Cool Down, Nicole and STS

It was more like a late summer day today than an early October day.  The afternoon high reached 79 degrees in Nashville, 73 is the average high for this time of the year.  But the real attention getter in the climate report for the day is the lack of rain.  Not a drop has fallen at the Nashville airport this month.  We are now down over 3″ for the year.  Things are getting dry and crispy. including my skin.  I’ve been getting out the hand lotion more and more. Fortunately, there is a little rain in this forecast. Clouds were moving in late this afternoon in advance of the next system.

Here’s the Futurecast depiction for the next 24 hours. A few showers move in late night.  Most of the activity is confined to the northwest part of Middle Tennessee. The system weakens as it moves east.

Another disturbance brings a few showers on Friday.  The increase in clouds both days will help keep the temperatures in the afternoon near 70 degrees.  Over the weekend the 80s return.

wsmv-4day-forecast

This is rain for the most part.  No severe thunderstorms are expected.  You can learn more about severe weather tomorrow (Thursday) night at our free weather safety program, Surviving the Storm.  This week, we will be in Smyrna at the River of Life Church.  Paul Heggen, Dan Thomas, Daphne DeLoren and I will be there with a multi-media, interactive show. The doors open at 6pm and the first 50 people get a free Snowbird goodie. And yes, Snowbird will be there too.
