July 19: Quiet Today…Storms Tomorrow

A little hotter today and you could feel that humidity creeping back into the area. The high reached 94° today.  It was a quiet summer day,  but a front is approaching from the west. It promises to bring rain and some thunderstorms.  Some of those could be severe. Right now almost all of Middle Tennessee is in a moderate risk zone for severe weather.  That is number 3 on a 1 to 5 scale. I issued a 4WARN Weather Alert because of this threat.

The first half of the day will likely be hot and sticky with only a few isolated thunderstorms. The afternoon and evening will be the prime time for strong to severe storms.

The storms potential will likely continue through early Saturday morning.

Large hail, damaging wind, and even a possible isolated tornado are all likely. The greatest threat is from high wind that could bring down trees and power lines. Be weather aware tomorrow and have a way to get warnings and alerts like the WSMV WX app.

Temperatures tomorrow afternoon will rise to the low 90s with an increase in humidity.
Showers and thundershowers will linger off and on through the weekend.  Highs will drop down in the 80s.  Monday through Wednesday will also feature spotty showers and storms with highs in the upper 80s. Although this looks like a lot of rain, it won’t rain all day long, all of these day.  The rain will be scattered.
