There are 4 things you should know about our upcoming weather. They are…
1) Today and tomorrow will be unusually hot!
High temperatures today will be in the low-mid 90s in most areas.
The heat index this afternoon will easily top 100 in spots. Tomorrow will be nearly identical.
In response to the expected intense heat & humidity, a Heat Advisory has been issued for our western counties. West Tennessee, Western Middle Tennessee, and southwest Kentucky are all included.
2) After Thursday’s widespread severe thunderstorms, storms moving forward will be more sparse.
Today’s storms will be much more spotty than yesterday’s. Look at where damage was reported yesterday. “W”s indicate where wind damage was reported. “H”s reflect a hail report. Notice the tornado symbol southwest of Nashville showing where an EF1 tornado with 110 mph wind touched down.
FUTURECAST today shows just spotty thunderstorms today. A storm or two may become severe along and/or west of the Tennessee River.
3) 4th of July weather looks excellent.
The 4th of July will feature typical weather. We’ll have a 30% chance for spotty thunderstorms. Highs will be in the low 90s.
4) No break from the heat or humidity in sight.
Down the road, I see no cold fronts that’ll pass through and drop our temperatures or humidity. All we’ll be able to rely on for cool downs are the spotty thunderstorms we expect here and there each and every day.
