Thankfully, today will be the hottest of the next several days as clouds and an unsettled rainy pattern moves in for the holiday weekend. Today in Nashville the high reached 90°. This is now the second hottest May on record. That is following the 11th coolest April.
Tonight will be a nice night and a good night to check out the International Space Station as it passes over at 8:24pm. The pass will last 6 minutes. It will be a little low on the horizon with a maximum height of 37°. It appears 10° above WSW then arcs and disappears 10° above NNE. The sky should be clear, so happy viewing.
Showers return beginning tomorrow. The morning will be dry with some sunshine and the rain spreads in during the afternoon and evening. Here’s the latest timing on Futurcast.
More rain is possible Saturday, especially in the afternoon, but the latest models show it will be scattered. With that in mind, don’t cancel outdoor plans, just have a plan B.
The chance of rain increases for Sunday and Monday, Memorial Day. The rain looks to be more widespread those days. It is a good idea to get the holiday festivities going earlier and have a back up plan in case the backyard gathering gets rained out!
Afternoon highs will still be above average in the mid 80’s through the weekend. Average is 80°.
A couple of reminders…
- Check the backseat for children and don’t leave pets in the car
- Beware of lightning if you are boating…head back to shore
- Use plenty of sunscreen
I’ll have an update on News4 at 10pm.
