Rain across the area this evening. Temperatures will remain cool in the 50s until the overnight hours. This afternoon in Nashville with a cloudy sky the high reached 59°.
Cold air will spread across the Mid State through the early morning. The combination of the cold air and wind will make for a biting start to the day…feeling like the mid 20s for many. Where is spring?
The cold air means rain will mix with sleet and possibly some snow near the TN/KY state line. Here’s the latest timeline with Futurecast.
The good news is we’re not expecting any accumulating snow. Just a light dusting is possible for elevated surfaces.
Saturday afternoon the sky will begin to clear but it will be cold!!! With 44° for the forecast high, that would tie the record low maximum for the April 7.
One result of the clearing sky Saturday night, we’ll wake up to at or below freezing temperatures on Sunday. A Freeze Watch has been issued for most of Middle Tennessee for Saturday night into Sunday morning. A freeze warning is in the dark purple area for a few counties in our northwest viewing area early tomorrow morning.
There is good news it will warm to the 50’s that afternoon.
Showers are back in the forecast early Monday before drying out by afternoon. Expect things to warm up Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
I’ll have an update on News 4 at 10pm.
