January 16: Very Cold Winter Wonderland

The video, the photos from today are simply beautiful.  Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky looks like a winter wonderful.  The snowfall totals, like we talked about yesterday, were much higher northwest of Nashville. The official total in Nashville was 1.7″ at the airport.

It was cold today in Music City with the high only 26°, but tonight will be much colder and the wind will make it feel even colder. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for all of Middle Tennessee. The temperatures will fall to the single digits, the wind will make it feel between 0 to -10.  Here’s the Futurecast depiction for 6AM tomorrow morning.  Yikes 10 below wind chill in Clarkville.

After a brief time of clearing tonight, the clouds will move back in.  This is a good thing tonight as they will help keep the temperatures from falling evening lower. Right now it looks like the air temperature in Nashville will be near 5° by 7AM, too cold for people or pets to be out.  Also keep in mind that any slush or moisture that is out on the roads will refreeze. It will be slick.

Sunshine takes over the rest of the week but don’t expect a quick warm up. Day time temperatures will be in the 20s Wednesday and then slowly rising to the mid 40s by Friday.

2018 4DAY UBER

A big warm up to near 60° is expected this weekend. You can get a taste of that with Saturday’s forecast up to the upper 50s.
