UPDATE AT 10:45PM
Winter Storm Warning has been added to the northwest corner of Middle Tennessee.
I have also adjusted the snowfall total map.
A 4WARN WEATHER ALERT is in effect through tomorrow. An approaching cold front is spreading snow and cold air across Middle Tennessee from the northwest to southeast. This is after one of the warmest days we have had in a while. In Nashville it was 48° today. That is very close to the average of 47° for a high. It was a beautiful winter day for most.
Things are changing. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Middle Tennessee through tomorrow. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for some of our viewers just over the Tennessee River in West Tennessee including Paris (that’s the light blue).
Here is the latest timing on the snow moving in with Futurecast.
The snow moves out of Middle Tennessee in the evening. A general 1″to 2″ of accumulation can be expected with local amounts up to 3″ across the Mid State.
Plan on slick roads this evening, overnight and Tuesday morning as the snow falls and temperatures continue to drop temperatures will plummet to the teens overnight.
Tuesday’s high will only reach about 20°. Sunshine does return Wednesday and sticks around for the rest of the week but so does the bitterly cold air.
Morning lows will fall to the single digits Wednesday morning and only reach the mid 20s in the afternoon. Finally the temperatures rises above freezing on Friday. Friday will finally return to average for a winter day in the upper 40s.
A warm up is coming for the weekend. I’ll have the latest on News 4 at 10pm.
