Feeling cold this morning? Well, believe it or not, we’re about to kick it up another notch this weekend as an even COLDER blast of Arctic air infiltrates the Mid State!
Outdoors as of 9am, it’s VERY cold!
The wind chill is making for the coldest feel since last January (when on January 8th the temperature fell to 8 in Nashville).
Take a look at current temperatures upstream over the Midwest! Wow!!
The northerly wind in place will continue all day making for a wind chill in the teens and low 20s at best.
High temperatures will be in the 20s for most! Nashville should get to 32…or very close.
Clouds are blanketing much of the Mid State now (as of 9am). Sunshine will develop though from west to east over the next several hours.
With a mainly clear sky tonight, temperatures will fall all the way back to the teens and single digits!
Temperatures will moderate a little tomorrow afternoon and Friday, setting the stage for decent weather for the Music City Bowl!
Then, even colder Arctic air will push in for this weekend! Notice how cold New Year’s Eve looks at midnight.
Outside of a few snow flurries on Sunday the forecast looks dry. Notice also that from Saturday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will likely stay below freezing! This type of cold is life threatening to pets. Make sure they have a warm place to enjoy during the day and not just at night. Consider checking in on elderly friends, neighbors, and family members to ensure they’re doing okay. Put extra clothes and blankets in your car to keep you warm should you break down.
Join me later today on News 4 at Noon. I’ll update you on the cold and will have a closer look at the weather system we expect to pass through on Sunday.
