The blast of cold air has arrived. The Nashville high temperature today was recorded at 3:30AM this morning at 64°. Temperatures have continued to drop since then. Mainly cloudy but dry conditions tonight with decreasing clouds overnight. This will allow temperatures to drop to sub-freezing early Wednesday morning.
Expect a mix of clouds and sun Wednesday with highs near 50 degrees.
Two more Alberta Clippers will make a run at the mid state this week. This will bring a reinforcing shot of cold air on Thursday, the high will only reach the upper 40s.
By the way, an Alberta Clipper is a fact moving system that originates in Alberta, Canada. It usually brings arctic air and some winter precipitation.
The next clipper comes late Friday night and Saturday with some snow . A dusting will be possible on grassy surfaces and around 1″ on the Cumberland Plateau. The roads should be warm enough that we don’t have any big travel problems.
It is still several days out, so I’ll keep you updated on the progress of this system and changes expected as the front gets closer.
