September 23: Will Summer Ever End?

Our late summer heat wave has continued into the first full day of fall, and there’s more of the same in store over the next several days.  Temperatures tonight will only drop to the mid to upper 60s, with locally dense fog possible once again:

Once that burns off, temperatures will warm up rapidly, reaching the upper 80s to around 90° in the afternoon, with heat indices a couple of degrees higher:

If you’re heading to the Titans’ game against the Seahawks, be prepared to perspire:

Same thing if you’re heading out to Pilgrimage Fest:

Just a very slight storm chance on Sunday — the RPM model pictured here thinks the best chance will shape up west of I-65:

Even hotter Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the low 90s — that puts us close to record territory, especially on Tuesday.  After one more day around 90° Wednesday, a different airmass will move in with a slight chance of showers and storms Wednesday night and Thursday.  More importantly, our temperatures will drop to normal or even below-normal levels by next weekend:

I’ll have an update on Hurricane Maria on News 4 at 10pm — see you then!
