There are 4 things you should know about the weather tonight. They are…
1) A few showers are likely overnight.
4WARN Live Doppler Radar as of 9pm shows a few showers developing over West Tennessee.
Additional showers are likely to develop overnight, as they slide eastward. SO, if you work overnight and will be driving, just beware there will likely be a few wet roads.
2) Tomorrow will bring us our best rain chance for the next seven days.
Additional moisture and energy now over Arkansas and Missouri will push our way tomorrow.
That’ll make for scattered showers and thunderstorms through the day, with the best rain chance from late morning through late afternoon.
3) Unusual heat will continue for a while to come.
We had a high temperature of 89 degrees today in Nashville. Yesterday’s high was 90. Notice how above average temperatures are likely to remain through at least this week, and probably into the middle of NEXT week!
4) Hurricane Maria is bearing down the island of Dominica, on its way toward the Caribbean Sea.
The latest satellite image of Maria shows the category 5 hurricane now crossing that tiny island.
Dominica is actually very mountainous, so there could be some weakening of the storm as it passes overhead. After emerging into the Caribbean, next in line is likely to be Puerto Rico for a landfall sometime on Wednesday.
Join us tonight on News 4 at 10pm. We’ll talk much more about Hurricane Maria, discuss the likelihood it hits the United States, and share additional information on the storms expected tomorrow.
We hope you join us!
