The topic of conversation will be “Irma” for the next few days. She’s expected to make landfall in southern Florida during the overnight hours of Sunday morning. As of now, Irma is a category 4 hurricane but definitely has the potential to strengthen to a category 5 by landfall time. All of southern Florida is under a Hurricane Warning and a State of Emergency.
Meanwhile back here in Nashville, we’re experiencing a beautiful weekend! You can expect a warm and breezy day. A high of 80 degrees today with a northeast wind of 10-15 mph (some wind gusts could reach up to 20 mph). It’s the perfect day to go visit the Tennessee State Fair, if you haven’t done so yet.
You many find yourself sniffing and sneezing today…. that’s because the pollen count is in the very high category– 10.5 for today. It will remain high throughout the weekend with the main culprit being grasses and ragweed.
Overnight, we’ll drop down to 56 degrees for the low.
Tomorrow, another beautiful day to close out the weekend. A high of 79 and an overnight low of 55. Another breezy day with low humidity.
Enjoy the rain-free weekend while you can… the next rain chances move in late Monday night– all remnants of Hurricane Imra– mostly for folks east of I-65 and the Plateau. By Tuesday, a more widespread rain event is expected with some strong storms and possible isolated flash flooding. The rain is expected to linger around Wednesday and Thursday.
