TGIF sunshine to kick start our Friday!
Upper 50s to lower 60s will warm up to the lower 80s, which is still about five degrees below average according to late August standards.
If you’re looking for fun plans tonight, the weather could not be more perfect for some football. Touchdown Friday starts off in the upper 70s around kickoff at 7 PM. By half time, you can expect lower 70s, crisp air and a few clouds.
All eyes are on the tropics with Hurricane Harvey! Treading warm waters in the Gulf, Harvey has upgraded to (8:45 am) a Category 2 hurricane, likely strengthening into a Category 3 hurricane as it makes landfall late tonight into early Saturday morning. Life-threatening storm surge, flooding and hurricane force winds make this a major hurricane, with significant impacts. Mandatory evacuations are in order for areas alongside or close to the coastline. Latest forecast models point towards an east northeast turn Sunday overnight into Monday, as the hurricane is expected to weaken into a Tropical Storm.
With so much rain over the course of a few days, rainfall totals are now expected to exceed 30″ locally. If you have friends or family in the area, be sure they know to evacuate immediately.
No direct impact from Harvey in Middle Tennessee but remnants of the storm is expected next week. Spotty to scattered showers and thunderstorms, higher humidity and cooler than average highs is what you can expect each day in the week ahead.
Stay tuned for updates!
