We are talking dangerous heat, very humid conditions and RAIN! No rain today…just a tease ahead to the weekend.
I did some research on the number of unseasonably warm days (red) we’ve had in Middle Tennessee compared the number of seasonably cooler (blue) days. Quite a margin! 14 red and only 5 blue. It does not stop there. The pink shaded days are ones in which my forecast is above average…
On the bright side (no pun), if you’re stuck in your office with the A.C. cranking, your view is quick lovely…
It is only 8:12 AM as I type here and temps are already cooking into the lower 80s!
Dew points in the lower 70s will not only have your clothes sticking to you but will be a key player in what it really FEELS like. I know, I’m sorry…
Triple digit heat indices may go as high as 109 during the afternoon to early evening both today and tomorrow. In fact, the National Weather Service extends the Heat Advisory to cover a good chunk of Middle Tennessee, mainly I-65 west. In effect until 7:00 pm on Friday…
Time to break out out heat safety tips once again! Hydrate with water, try to squeeze outdoor chores or errands in during the early morning or evening, and never leave children, pets or elderly in a parked vehicle at any point in the day.
Besides an isolated afternoon shower through Saturday, expect extreme heat and very muggy conditions. Our best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be on Sunday into Monday. Those who are ready for some relief from the heat, you will be a fan of the rain! This will bring daytime highs back to average to kick start our next workweek.
I’ll have updates on the heat and weekend storm activity coming up on News 4 at noon today. Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer will have updates to follow at 4, 5 6 and 10 tonight!
