Rumbles of thunder and some very ominous clouds were fairly common today across Middle Tennessee. Thunderstorms were firing up in the heat and humidity…nothing severe.
The afternoon high rose to 93°, but the humidity made it feel more like 98°. It will be a muggy night again tonight, but the rain will be gone.
Tomorrow an approaching front will nudge into this soupy airmass, that will trigger some rain and thunderstorms.
Some of those storms could be strong. The greatest threat will be gusty winds and isolated flash flooding with some heavy downpours.
The front will be a slow mover, so rain will linger into Saturday especially south of I-40. Here’s the latest Futurecast depiction.
A ridge of high pressure will move back in to Middle Tennessee beginning Sunday. Sunday isolated thunderstorms are possible. Monday will be hot but generally dry.
I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
