Grab an umbrella! Showers and thunderstorms are likely today and tomorrow. So far, nothing severe…just loud thunder and localized heavy downpours.
The Storm Prediction Center has ALL of the Mid State under a ‘Marginal Risk’ (1 on a 1 to 5 scale) for any storm to reach severe criteria.
Though the risk is lifted for northwestern Middle Tennessee on Thursday, the remainder of the Mid State is included in the risk zone.
Thick clouds serve as a blanket to keep temperatures in the low to upper 70s for most. Areas that see a bit more sunshine, like Leoma and Fayetteville are warmer in the upper 80-degree range.
Dew points are getting real. Low to mid 70s is an oppressive place to be in the humidity department. Not only will you FEEL the soupiness but the dew point is one key factor in sparking some stronger storms.
