4th of July Weather and Beyond

Happy Independence Day!

Lisa and Dogs

Lisa, Lucy and Lyla during Backdeck Weather on this July 4th.

I hope you and your family had a great day! It was a warm but humid afternoon making it feel like the mid 90s instead of the mid 80s. When it comes to rain and thunderstorms this has been a much quieter day.  Tonight things are looking good for fireworks displays across Middle Tennessee. I can’t totally rule out a passing shower, but for  most of us it will remain dry.

Tomorrow another upper level wave will pass over Middle Tennessee, that means more rain and thunderstorms.  Some of the afternoon storms could be strong to severe. The greatest threat would be from high wind. The Storm Prediction Center has put the midstate in a “marginal” zone, 1 on a 1 to 5 scale.

PAUL SEVERE RISK REGION 2

Here’s the latest Futurecast Model display.

This chance of thunderstorms extends into Thursday too.

Friday is looking drier but not rain-free. A weak front may drift south giving us a slight chance of thundershowers.  It will be hot too with a high near 90. More spotty showers and thunderstorms will move in on Saturday.  Sunday is the best day of the weekend. I think it will be mostly dry and a little less humid.  I am keeping a 20% chance of thundershowers in the forecast for Sunday.
