It’s the 4th of July weekend & people just want to be outdoors! Will the weather cooperate for what you have planned? Let’s take a look.
This morning, while it’s dry outdoors, we do have a solid deck of clouds moving through many communities. Here’s a look from above…
Temperatures are climbing very slowly, through the low-mid 70s in general.
Notice the batch of rain farther south. That’s associated with a spoke of energy sliding along in the upper atmosphere. While the focus of that little “disturbance” as we call it will stay well south of Middle Tennessee, I do expect its influence to be felt here in the Mid State this afternoon, as it helps trigger widely scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Closest to that batch of rain is where you’ll find the best rain chance this afternoon & evening — across southern Middle Tennessee.
Clouds will gradually thin/dissipate late this morning, making for a brighter afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the 80s for most.
Here’s a look at FUTURECAST for this afternoon…
As we talked about yesterday, I wouldn’t change any outdoor plans I had for today based on what I see in the maps above. I’d just check 4WARN Live Doppler Radar from time to time this afternoon and be prepared to take it indoors or adjust plans temporarily if rain moves through your area. Use the 4WARN Weather app, which is free. It’ll also allow you to get any watches or warnings, as long as you go into the app’s settings and configure it like this:
The Nashville Sounds have a home game at First Tennessee Park, if you want to check that out. The Oklahoma City Dodgers are in town…with first pitch being thrown at 6:35pm!
Looking down the road, the rain chance drops some tomorrow. Then, it climbs again for Tuesday, the 4th of July.
