TGIF! And it’s the Friday before a long holiday weekend. It was a hot one, reaching 90 degrees this afternoon…feeling like the mid-90s with high humidity. Some areas picked up rain, that was mainly this morning and in the early afternoon. This photo was from Maury County.
There could be a few more spotty showers this evening, but most won’t see those. This is associated with a disturbance moving out of Illinois. Futurecast looks to be a little overdone.
This weekend is not going to be a washout but there will be some showers and thunderstorms especially tomorrow. The latest Futurecast shows the best chance of rain and storms is in the afternoon.
The Storm Prediction Center has put the eastern part of Middle Tennessee in a Marginal Risk zone for severe thunderstorms. That is a 1 on a 1-5 scale. Wind damage is the greatest threat.
If you are headed to the lake or pool Sunday and Monday will be the best outdoor days. It will be hot and sticky with just some isolated thunderstorms.
Again on Tuesday the chance of rain increases. It won’t rain all day, but plan on some scattered showers and storms for your afternoon Bar-B-Q. Right now it looks like most of the rain dies out as the sun goes down, so I am only putting an isolated thunderstorm in the evening forecast.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend. We are so fortunate to live in this amazing country. Take a few minutes to remember those who gave so much to make our freedom possible.
I’ll have an update on the forecast on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
