Muggy Thursday, More Rain to Come

As promised, today was a warm and much more humid day.  The high in Nashville reached 89 degrees with dew point temperatures returning to the 70°s.  With the increase in heat and humidity showers, a few thunderstorms moved in.  There was a treat for some, like this rainbow captured in Eagleville.

The showers that are out there now will diminish this evening. The weather should be fine for the Sounds game, only and isolated shower possible.  The same scenario for the first Thursday Night Out at Cheekwood tonight. That event is open until 10 PM tonight.

Tomorrow with a strong southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico mean more rain and thunderstorms are possible tomorrow. An upper level system will enhance the chance of rain Friday night. Here’s the latest Futurecast that shows that.

Saturday will be the wettest of the weekend days.  I have a 70% chance of and thunderstorms in the forecast.  The Storm Prediction Center has put part of Middle Tennessee in a “Marginal Risk” area for strong thunderstorms.

The biggest concern will be from gusty winds. Be weather aware you plan any outdoor activities.  If possible choose Sunday as the outdoor day.  I’m only expecting isolated thunderstorms Sunday and those will mainly be south of I-40.  Monday brings another chance of isolated thunderstorms. Look for some spotty showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, the 4th of July.  Hopefully that will move out by fireworks time.

Independence Day

I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
