This Tuesday began in a fog. Rain and a few thunderstorms moved across Middle Tennessee from late morning to late afternoon. You may have heard the rumbles of thunder and experienced the heavy rain. This was out ahead of the front that will open the door for a welcomed twist…a cooler and less humid airmass.

Morning Fog in Franklin

Clouds with the rain and thunderstorms today.
The drier air will move in tonight. The dew points today were near 70°, that is oppressive. They will drop to the 50s tomorrow and that will feel refreshing.
By the way, dew points indicate the amount moisture in the air. The higher the dew point, the higher the moisture content of the air at a given temperature. Dew point temperature is defined as the temperature to which the air would have to cool (at constant pressure and constant water vapor content) in order to reach saturation. Too complicated? That’s why I use the muggy meter to illustrate.
The dew points will remain lower through Friday. High pressure moves back in for the weekend. A south wind will bring more moisture and that means the humidity returns. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90°.
This is a big weekend for Nashville and Middle Tennessee. The Predators are playing Thursday and Sunday. That means a lot of folks gathered downtown. And if that isn’t enough, CMT Awards is tomorrow night and the CMA Fest begins Thursday. And let’s not forget Bonnaroo in Manchester it also starts Thursday. The weather looks great for all.
I’ll have an update tonight on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
