June 1st…Feeling like Summer

Hot start to the new month!  Today Nashville reached 88°, several degrees above average. More heat is on the way the next couple of days.

A weak surface front sinking across Middle Tennessee is triggering some showers and thunderstorms.  The storms diminish as the sun goes down.

LS 1

With lingering moisture some areas of fog will develop near lakes and rivers and low lying areas.

Good news for outdoor fun for the weekend…Friday and Saturday will be mostly dry and hot.  Only a few isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop mainly in the afternoon. This is great news for Pred parties in the Park and on the Plaza Saturday night.

Sunday is a different story as a weak front approaches, more rain and thunderstorms will spread across the area. The thunderstorms are not expected to be severe. The front will pass by late on Monday, that means more rain lingering into Monday.  Earlier in the week it looked like significant rain could be a problem, however that doesn’t seem to be the case now.  Generally a half inch of rain is expected as the system moves through.

I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
