We are on a roll…another beautiful day reaching 81 degrees this afternoon in Nashville. Keep in mind the average high for this time of year is 69. That roll is coming to a stop with approaching front that will bring some showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. The good news…we are not expecting them to be severe.
Futurecast gives the latest timing. Some showers will start in the morning mainly to the west. The better chance of thunderstorms will come in the afternoon.
Even though we aren’t expecting thunderstorms to be severe tomorrow, they will have lightning. Lightning is an underrated killer. On this date in 1994, lightning struck during an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Antioch. One person died and 18 others were injured.
Remember this little saying “Thunder Roars Go Indoors”. Inside a building is the best place to be. A car can also provide protection. Both act as a cage to direct the electricity in that lightning bolt around you. Lightning tends to strike tall things. You don’t want to be near a tree and you don’t want to be the tall thing standing out in the park.
After the front passes by there will be a few showers lingering to the southeast on Wednesday morning. The rest of the afternoon the sky will clear. Thursday through Saturday the weather will be similar with a partly sunny sky and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The highs will rise to near 80.
A sneak peak at Easter Sunday, plan on some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
I’ll have a update on the forecast on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
