This week is off to a damp start with a round of wind and rain this morning and some showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. So far Nashville has picked up about a .25″ of rain. There have been no severe storms, but the Storm Predication Center is keeping part of Middle Tennessee in a “marginal risk” zone. That is a 1 on the 1 to 5 scale. I am really not expecting anything severe tonight.
Here is the latest Futurecast model depiction on tonight’s rain and thunderstorms.
Today’s clouds & rain were a big change from our beautiful weekend with loads of sunshine. Rain of course isn’t a bad thing. It keeps things lush and it does help wash away pollen, if only briefly. Tomorrow’s pollen count will be high.
The sunshine will return tomorrow and so will the warm temperatures. Another front moves through Wednesday producing rain and thunderstorms. At this time the Storm Prediction Center has put part of Middle Tennessee under a “slight risk” zone for severe thunderstorms. Damaging wind will be the greatest threat. Here is the latest Futurecast forecast for Wednesday.
A few showers may linger into Thursday morning, but the rest of the day will be cloudy and cool. Yes, cool. The front will leave behind some chilly air, even some morning lows in the 30s. Some frost is a possibility by Friday morning. Friday rebounds nicely to near 60.
Back to Thursday, our first Surviving the Storm is that night at 7pm. The White House United Methodist Church is hosting the program at White House Heritage High School. Come and learn how to keep you family safe during severe thunderstorms. It’s free plus we give away prizes to the first 50 people to come in.
