Weekend Wow Weather!

If you haven’t heard yet, the weather will be great this weekend! Clouds were slow to move out today especially north of I-40. That kept the temperatures down today, the high only reached 64.  The average for this time of year is 66, so that’s close.

The clouds will move out tonight setting us up for a great weekend. Tomorrow expect sunshine, high at 69. Sunday the winds kick around to the south, that will make it even warmer.  Clouds will start to increase Sunday as the next front approaches, but the rain will not arrive until Monday.  So enjoy the weekend!

LS weekend

The front approaching on Monday will bring showers and possibly a few thunderstorms for the first day of the work week. At this time it does not look to be severe.  We’ll keep you updated on that.  A few showers linger into Tuesday.  Temperatures will stay near 70.

WSMV 4DAY FORECAST.png

If you are one of the many frustrated that the thunderstorm forecast didn’t pan out yesterday.  My 4WARN team member, Paul Heggen wrote a great blog earlier today about what happened.  You can check it out here…What happened yesterday.

Yesterday’s storms did cause some wind damage. Here’s the map of some of those reports. It was mainly with one cell that moved from Rutherford into Wilson and Trousdale Counties.

The spring is just beginning, so we know there are more storms to come.  I invite you to attend one of our Surviving the Storm events this spring. The first on is coming up this Thursday evening in White House.

WSMV SURVIVING THE STORM multiple

It’s a free multi-media weather safety show. Come out and meet the 4WARN Team and get some freebies too.  We play games and do some experiments.  We get the audience involved. Click here for the other locations this spring.

Looks like this will be the fifth consecutive March with the precipitation sum between 4 and 5 inches. Such consistency had never happened before in the month known for being consistently inconsistent. We’ve had 16 days with measurable precipitation, 4 more than the norm (use that term loosely, actually just a mean) but it’s been pretty light overall. March is our wettest month by most definitions, yet the last time it rained considerably above average was back in 2008, and the last truly wet March occurred fifteen years ago. Almost an afterthought, our hot streak now stands at 14 straight and counting, and these have been the warmest three months to start a year. Who knows, 2017 may well eclipse (pun intended) last year as the hottest ever, though it’s unlikely to keep the furious pace much longer.
