Picture-perfect start to our Thursday morning…
Temperatures have run as low as the freezing mark for some but we’ll warm up quickly! Highs top out about five degrees warmer than average, in the upper 60s today.
Friday will look similar, just add a few degrees and breezy southerly winds, gusting as high as 25 mph at times. Get out there and enjoy it! Showers and storms march their way in as soon as Saturday. Areas west of I-65 will see the initial bands of showers by mid-morning and they’ll track east by around noon. The best timeline for thunderstorms will be during the evening into late Saturday night.
Let’s check in with Futurecast for timing…
The Storm Prediction Center clips our southwest counties to fit under a ‘Slight Risk’ (2 out of a 1 to 5 scale) for any of these storms to reach severe criteria and a good chunk of the Mid State under a ‘Marginal Risk’ (1 out of a 1 to 5 scale). Damaging winds and hail will be the greatest threats with some of the stronger storms.
Now is the perfect time to stay ahead of the storm with our FREE ‘WSMV WX’ app. Once you download it, you’ll want to adjust the settings to have ‘severe weather alerts’ turned ON, like so –>
I’ll have the full weekend storm timeline coming up on Channel 4 at noon today. Paul will have updates all evening long. I’ll be back to my regular weekend evening shift starting on Saturday!
Make it a great day!
