The snow system from yesterday has moved out. Even so, wintry weather will linger in our area through late week! Go figure — this is the last week of winter, as spring begins a week from tomorrow.
Clouds are still departing, but they’ll be completely gone by mid morning.
The storm dropped a final coating of snowfall last night over southern Middle Tennessee. There (over the southern two tiers of counties), 1″-2″ fell. This view from around 7:30am this morning shows the new snow pack in Manchester and Bell Buckle. If you have kids who want to play in it, get outdoors soon because it’ll be gone in just a few hours!
In other parts of the area, it’s sunny, cold, and dry. Below are views from Cool Springs, Clarksville, and Nashville (clockwise).
Temperatures are only in the 20s for most of us now (7:30am-ish). SO…you’ll want your winter coat if you’re going to venture out soon.
As we head through the day, temperatures will climb….but not to typical, early March levels. We’ll only have highs around 50 in most spots.
It’ll be sunny all day too, but clouds and precipitation are expected to return as soon as tomorrow! By tomorrow morning, we’ll have dropped into the low-mid 30s. That’s when a mix of rain, snow, and possibly some freezing rain will develop (over southwest Kentucky and northwest Middle Tennessee) as that next system moves in. Take a look at FUTURECAST’s timing of it….which looks reasonable to me.
Even though there might be a little mixed precipitation there (well northwest of Nashville), road problems will be hard to come by. As for Nashville, rain should begin by mid morning and linger into the early-mid afternoon. Highs tomorrow will only be in the 40s, so it’ll be chilly all day.
In the wake of tomorrow’s weather system, even colder air will take over for Tuesday and Wednesday! Tuesday may even bring about a few snow flurries on the Cumberland Plateau.
I’ll share more on that…and talk about what’s expected for the end of the week (including St. Patrick’s Day) coming up on Channel 4 News between 8am and 9am. Chris Miller is this morning’s guest anchor…..so grab a cup of coffee and join us!
