Hey there, sunshine! We sure missed you here. Snow has melted and now a thing of the past. Skies remain clear tonight and it will be just beautiful for any plans out in the town. Be sure, to grab a jacket, though. Temps drop low…again.
It will be cold enough for another FREEZE WARNING — in effect mainly for areas alongside and east of I-65.
Here’s a reminder checklist:
- Cover/bring in any sensitive vegetation.
- bring pets inside! Too cold to sleep out in the yard tonight.
- protect your pipes.
It has been a nice break today but our next weather maker wastes no time. System developing over the central plains, continues skirting towards the south and the east, knocking on our door step by tomorrow morning.
Latest model runs time the initial round of showers to arrive around mid-morning. Depending on just how early it arrives, there is a potential for some showers to have sleet mixed in. The good news, looks like our early AM commute is in the clear!
Let’s check in with Futurecast for timing…
So through late Monday night, we’re talking less than one inch of rainfall totals. Once we get into the overnight into Tuesday morning, temperatures plummet again. Any lingering moisture will transition into light flurries to light snow showers, mainly along the Cumberland Plateau where even a dusting is possible.
A much cooler air mass works its way in behind this system, bringing significantly cooler temperatures Tuesday night and Wednesday night when a Hard Freeze will take place. Daytime highs each day will only top out in the low to mid-40s, about fifteen to even twenty degrees cooler than average for this time of year. Winter is making up, huh?!
I’ll dive further in depth with the this upcoming shower timeline and workweek cool down coming up on Channel 4 at 10 tonight. Paul Heggen will have updates dark and early in the morning at 4! Hope you join us!
