There are 4 things to know about our upcoming weather. They are…
1) Areas of dense fog will form tonight.
After heavy downpours moved through earlier today, the ground is saturated. Check out how much rain fell in your area, according to Doppler radar estimates…
There’s plenty of moisture in place near the ground now, too. Dew points are in the 50s in support of this.
There’s also some clearing taking place over western Middle Tennessee that will advance eastward this evening.
SO….all the factors list above will combine to produce spotty dense fog for the morning drive tomorrow.
2) More showers & some storms will develop tomorrow afternoon.
A cold front will sag southward into the area tomorrow. This front will kick off additional showers and possibly even a few thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening. The best chance for these showers will be along and south of I-40.
It’s even conceivable one or two storms get strong and produce brief gusty wind, over far southeastern Middle Tennessee around dinnertime tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has put the eastern Mid State in a marginal threat zone for severe weather.
3) Thursday will be bitterly cold!
There’s no avoiding it. Wintry cold will blast back into the area on Thursday. Make sure you’re dressed for it….and if you have kids, they’re dressed for it. On Friday morning, the cold will peak.
4) Springlike warmth returns this weekend.
After Friday morning, temperatures will tip the other way and begin their climb.
Coming up on Channel 4 News, beginning at 4pm, we’ll tell you much more about what we expect for your weather right through the middle of the month.
