Strong to Severe Storms Possible

Another beautiful day! Bright sunshine and above average temperatures. Nashville hit a high of 60 degrees, exactly ten degrees above average. Our very own Ralph from Channel 4 snapped and shared this beautiful capture with me — “a lovely day for a walk on Mill Creek Trail in Antioch.” Agreed!

Mother Nature’s timing was prime for weekend plans. Big changes are on the way and as soon as tonight. A warm lifts northward into Middle Tennessee, increasing clouds alongside light showers for our southwestern counties by around 5 AM…

Showers spread area-wide by mid-morning, and they’ll keep us company for a good chunk of the day. In other words…grab an umbrella!dd-rpm-4km-evening2dd-rpm-4km-evening3dd-rpm-4km-evening4

A secondary system comes into play shortly after, Monday overnight into Tuesday. This round will have a bit more steam with it. Strong to severe storms are possible , especially on Tuesday morning. Let’s check in with Futurecast for timing…dd-rpm-4km-evening6dd-rpm-4km-evening7dd-rpm-4km-evening8

By mid-afternoon, things will really start to quiet down. Showers are still possible but as of now, bulk of the thunderstorm activity diminishes.dd-rpm-4km-evening9

So here are the take away points for Tuesday’s storm threat…

ALL of Middle Tennessee falls under a ‘Slight Risk’ for any of the stronger storms to meet severe criteria. Damaging straight line winds and large hail will be the greatest threats. Tornado threat is low at this point in time.dd-severe-storm-threat

Your 4WARN weather team will have all eyes on deck and keep you posted with updates. Paul Heggen will be with you bright and early tomorrow morning.

In the temperature news, near record warmth early week! Breezy southerly winds will aid in pulling in upper 60s by Tuesday (will not be surprised is some areas break the low 70s with a bit more sunshine). This is brief as cooler lower 50s return by Wednesday then back to the mid-40s by Thursday. A slight chance for a few snow flurry/light rain mix arrives by Thursday before a break through of sunshine just in time for our TGIF plans! Everyone together, “oh yeah!”

I’ll have the full storm timeline and everything you need to know coming up on Channel 4 at 10 tonight!
