There are 4 things to know about our upcoming weather. They are…
1) We’ll have super looking weather for Super Bowl Sunday!
Temperatures this morning are running a full 25 to 30 degrees higher than this time yesterday. It definitely feels like a different season! While we had low-mid teens in spots yesterday, today we’re in the 40s (as of 7:30am).
Clouds are prevailing in most spots, although some clearing has taken place northwest of Nashville. The latest satellite picture shows that.
Clarksville is one of the many communities getting to enjoy some sunshine early this Sunday.
Most other areas are cloudy.
That’ll gradually change this afternoon as clouds break up from west to east. While some spots will remain cloudy all day long, I think most will see at least a little sunshine.
Temperatures late this afternoon will be in the 50s for all…with no rain, so leave the umbrella behind if you’re jetting to someone’s house for the game this afternoon.
2) Rain will rule early this week…
While we’ll be dry today (after a few showers last night), showers will return tomorrow. Take a look at FUTURECAST.
This rain will develop in response to a warm front passing to the north. That’ll make tomorrow afternoon even warmer than today (in the 60s). A couple rumbles of thunder will also be possible.
3) Strong storms possible on Tuesday!
On Tuesday, rain will be likely again. We also expect some thunderstorms, as even more warmth and moisture moves in on a gusty southerly wind.
The Storm Prediction Center has put our area in a Slight Risk zone for severe storms on Tuesday.
Right now, timing looks to support rain and storms during the morning, with some of them possibly containing damaging wind gusts. During the afternoon, additional storms will be possible, especially if sunny breaks develop in the cloud cover.
4) Springlike theme will win out through next weekend!
Most of this next week will feel like spring!….following suit with the majority of this winter. Notice that on several days, we’ll make a run at 70.
Only one cold day is expected from start to finish, and that’s Thursday. It’s still possible we’ll have a few sprinkles or snow flurries moving through that day, too.
Coming up on Channel 4 News Today, between 8am and 9am, we’ll have more details on what’s coming down the pike as we work our way into mid February. We hope you join us!
Make it a great Sunday!
