TGIF Sunshine Before Weekend Rain

Variably cloudy skies and noticeably cooler temperatures have been the trend today.

A cold front just south of Tennessee pulls in enough moisture for a few spotty light showers, all south of I-40…video-radar

Cooler and drier air behind the cold front continues ushering in as we speak. Northwestern hang strong to upper 30s. All else? Low to upper 40s…wsmv-dma-temps-zoom1_effectsquiggle-autoplot

As skies continue clearing tonight, overnight lows will run unseasonably cold, in the mid-20 degree range…ouch! Highs will continue the trend, running five degrees cooler than average in the upper 30s closer to the TN/Kentucky border and lower 40s for most of Middle Tennessee.daphne-icast-temperature

There is a bright side! Radiant TGIF sunshine will make these COLD temperatures feel a little better.

Let’s talk rain chances. We’ll have a train of upper level systems back-to-back in the near future. The first of two arrives late on Saturday, bringing scattered showers Saturday overnight into the morning on Sunday. System #2 knocks on the door soon after, Monday evening into Tuesday. This one has a better chance of producing thunderstorms (potentially strong), especially on Tuesday. Though we’re not desperate for the rain, we’ll get a decent amount of it. Here’s what I expect through Tuesday night…

Besides that, we are in for a warm up! Each day up until Tuesday, temps just keep climbing. Cooler air finally returns Wednesday night into Thursday and this could bring our next chance for a rain/snow mix.wsmv-4-plus-4-pm

I’ll have the full timeline of weekend rain and weekday warm up coming up on Channel 4 at 4 & 4:30 today! ‘See’ you in a bit!
