Season Shake Up

Is it spring or winter?  This weather will have you checking the calendar.  Today it warmed to 70 degrees in Music City, that is well above the 48 degree average high and very close to the record. The record is 73 from 2002.

Some clouds are streaming in tonight in advance of the next front, but there will still be some clear spots tonight and that is good news.  If you missed seeing the Crescent Moon, Venus and Mars last night, they will make another appearance tonight.  This time they will appear in the shape of a triangle.  Look to the southwest sky to catch the view.  you won’t need a telescope but it will enhance the view.

If the clouds are in the way tonight, you can try again tomorrow night after sunset, as the trio will be out again.

Well I mentioned the clouds, they are in advance of the next front that will bring a return to more winter-like temperatures.  A big area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere will move east and that will shift the cold air back to the southern and eastern part of the country. Wednesday will still remain mild, but there will be some showers across the southern portion of Middle Tennessee.  Futurecast shows this nicely.

The accompanying front will stall out over the mid south, that will keep things unsettled through Friday.  You will definitely feel a difference in the temperatures as they return to the mid to upper 40s for highs.  Most of the rain will be south of I-40. As temperatures drop late Thursday night into Friday morning, a winter mix is possible along the Tennessee/Alabama line.

Another disturbance moves in Saturday night into Sunday.  Most of Saturday will be dry, but Saturday night into Sunday morning expect some more showers.

I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
