We’ve zoomed through January so quickly that just two days from now, it’s Groundhog Day!….Thursday, February 2nd.
While we have Chattanooga Chuck here in Tennessee, based out of the Tennessee Aquarium…
….most people across the country will have their eyes fixed on Punxsutawney Phil, at Gobbler’s Knob, Pennsylvania!
This tradition of a furry rodent sticking his head out at dawn to prognosticate the weather for the following six weeks has been going on here in the states since the late 1800s. If he sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t, it means an early start to spring!
….or does it? The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration has conducted a study and determined that the skill of this living, breathing fur ball can essentially be equated to that of a flipped coin. Sometimes he gets it right, other times….not so much! If you’d like to read the report, you can find it at PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL’S ACCURACY .
Still though, it’ll be a fun day for many, just to hear & see what he sees! Until then, Phil will be resting up…and promoting his own microbrew! Check it out… It made me laugh, so I had to share! It’s Punxsutawney PHILsner!
