TGIF! This weekend is off to a chilly start and will keep the winter feel going all weekend long. The high today reached 46 in Nashville and the low was at 34. Interesting to note, because this makes the 17th day in the row of temperatures above freezing in January in Nashville. The record for the longest stretch of above freezing temperatures is 18 from 1974.
If the temperatures stay above freezing at 12mid, the record will be tied. It’s possible that could happen, but we are expecting the low in the morning to drop to 27. Tomorrow with a southerly breeze temperatures will rebound to near 50 and the sun will be shining. Sunday things get interesting as there is a chance of rain and snow.
A disturbance will drop down and with the colder air in place, snow will likely begin to fall, especially in the afternoon and evening. Most spots will just pick up a dusting. The most likely spot for accumulation will be along the Cumberland Plateau. Places like Jamestown and Monterey could see 1″ to 2″. Here is the latest Futurecast with the timing.
The snowfall potential shows the possible 1″ in the darker blue. The lighter blue indicates a dusting.
I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
Have a blessed weekend!
