Weekend Snow?

After a cloudy and bone chilling start to our morning, TGIF sunshine breaks through and saves the day! All right! Here’s a little peak out the window from our downtown camera…video-tvi

I just snuck out of the office to snap a view from our studio real quick. If it was not so chilly, I would be tempted to soak it up a little longer…dd-picture4

Check out current temps (2:57 pm). If you want 30s, head to the east! Mid to upper 40s? West of I-65! Little all over the place.wsmv-dma-temps-zoom1_effectsquiggle-autoplot

By tomorrow, we are in for a bit of a warm up…when compared to today. Seasonable upper 40s to lower 50s are on tap by the afternoon, which is right where we should be according to late January standards. Only thing that makes it better? Delightful sunshine as a cherry on top.daphne-icast-temperatureGet out there and soak it up because the story changes going into the second half of the weekend…dd-rpm-12km-eveningdd-rpm-12km-evening2

An approaching upper level system pulls in the clouds Saturday night into Sunday morning. With temperatures dropping below freezing after midnight, showers will initially be in the form of light snow, especially for areas along the Cumberland Plateau.

When all is said and done, I would not be surprised for accumulations to sum up to an inch for the eastern counties, especially for areas with higher terrain. The surface temperatures there has a better chance of remaining at or below zero. Little (about a trace) to no accumulation (especially for areas west of I-65) for all else.

This is brief! Sunshine returns by the start of next week and upper 50s knock on the door by Tuesday!wsmv-4-plus-4-pm
