Near Record Warmth….Then RAIN

Doesn’t it feel amazing outdoors today?  I haven’t spent much time outdoors, but AM about to step out and go for a walk/break before the 4 o’clock newscast.  We’ve flirted with record high temperatures today.  Many communities sit at 70 degrees right now (as of 3pm)…

A couple hours ago, Nashville reached 72.  The record for today is 74 degrees, set back in 1943.  I don’t think we’ll get there, but nevertheless, it’s been a beautiful feeling day!

Rain’s been rolling over some of our northwesternmost counties all day.  Here’s the latest view of 4WARN Live Doppler Radar…

More rain is lining up to the west, as well.  Have a look:

A developing storm system moving through the Plains tonight will bring that curtain of rain over Arkansas and West Tennessee into our area.  It’ll expand as it pushes eastward.  FUTURECAST shows how it’ll develop and progress.  If you have evening plans, the later you’re out, the greater your chances of getting wet.  ALSO…a few heavier downpours will enter the picture just before midnight, so bear that in mind.  There could even be some rumbles of thunder overnight, but severe weather isn’t likely.  It’s just not unstable enough.

Tomorrow, rain will be around for the morning commute, but will gradually exit toward the east.

Notice a few breaks in the clouds will form, too….allowing for more mild weather!

The weather system we expect tonight and tomorrow is just system #1 over the next week.  We also have systems #2 & 3!  One of those will even make for some rather chilly air.  I’ll explain much more in moments….on Channel 4 News at 4pm.  We hope you tune in!

NOW…for my walk.
