Buckle Up for Rain and Warmer Temps

The wild temperature ride carries on! A stalled out front keeps (6:53pm as I type) cooler low to upper 40s north, mild 50s are the cream filling of Middle Tennessee and upper 50s to lower 60s are at the bottom of the cake! I may be craving sweets…

A blanket of clouds hover over the region but the rain is out the door! Goodbye…for now. Enough moisture combines with light winds for another round of developing fog tonight into our morning commute so you’ll want to allow a little extra time to get to your destination. Friendly reminders: low beams on (high beams reflect back into your eyes, making the situation worse), allow plenty of room between you and the car ahead of you and go a bit slower.

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King Day and there is plenty of events around town to celebrate! The 3rd Annual 5K 4 MLK starts at 7:30 AM at East Park Community Center. Mild upper 40s and rain-free! How about that? Not bad.

See the mess towards our west? Texas and Oklahoma are getting hammered. That same system is headed our way…but the timing is bearable. Besides an isolated shower during the day, things remain nice and dry. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to arrive late Monday night into Tuesday.

The Storm Prediction Center keeps a ‘Marginal Risk’ (1 out of a 1/5 scale) for any of these storms to reach severe criteria well off to our west. In other words, not a good chance.

Let’s check in with timing of rain & storms…

This unsettled pattern makes itself comfy for the days ahead. In fact, each and every day there will be a chance for rain. Temperatures are unbelievable once again but I guess it has become the norm around here lately. Upper 60s to lower 70s (over twenty degrees above average) on Monday and Tuesday before low to upper 60s take over by mid-week into next weekend. Lots going on here…

I’ll have the full shower and storm timeline coming up on channel 4 at 10 (likely delayed due to football) tonight! Hope you join me!
