4 Things to Know About Our Weather

There are 4 things to know about our weather.  They are…

1) Rain is moving out for tonight.

The latest on 4WARN Live Doppler radar shows rain pushing east of I-65, gradually exiting the eastern part of our area.

Most of the area received at least 1″ of rain today.  That helped with our current drought a lot!  Notice all the “W”s.  Those indicate areas where wind damage was reported.  Trees were blown down in some communities.  The power was knocked out for many, as well.  Over the next three hours, expect the rain to exit all of Middle Tennessee.

2) Rain is now arriving in Gatlinburg.

Wildfires raging out of control have forced some evacuations in the Gatlinburg area tonight!  The good news is, rain is now arriving there.

Much more rain is anticipated there through the overnight and then again tomorrow night, too.

3) The wind is diminishing for the night.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect for our eastern counties tonight.

Notice how the wind will continue to settle down, as the heaviest rain pushes by to the east.

4) Another round of wet weather will move in tomorrow night…for some.

More rain is likely to develop over Alabama late tomorrow….and then push up over Middle Tennessee tomorrow night.  The area most likely to get this next round, which will likely include some thunderstorms, is southeastern Middle Tennessee.

Coming up tonight on Channel 4 News at 10pm I’ll share more on that.  We’ll look at the latest FUTURECAST and how it’s handling things.  We’ll also recap how much rain fell in your specific area from today’s wet weather.  We hope you join us then!
