Weekend Weather and Happenings

Great fall weekend with plenty of sunshine and chilly morning temperatures and seasonally cool afternoons. This will be great for folks traveling back home from holiday destinations. The next rain making system arrives the beginning of next week with 2 rounds of rain…the first Monday night to early Tuesday and then again Wednesday.  Monday into Tuesday will be windy with some strong thunderstorms possible.

Over that three day period next week, we could see  1-2″ of rain.  This will not be enough to climate the drought, but it will help. It’s the best chance of rain we’ve had in 2 months.  The last time we had 1″ or more of rain in Nashville was August 27. As a result  “Extreme Drought” conditions have now spread even farther north and west across Middle Tennessee.

With wonderful weekend weather ahead, here are a few things happening.

Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, you are encouraged to support small businesses in your area as you shop for the holidays.

It’s Christmas Parade time.  Channel 4’s Snowbird will make an appearance in the Adam’s Christmas Parade Saturday at 4pm.  And Sunday, he’ll be in the riding in the Dickson Parade.  It starts at 2pm.

Big college games this weekend with MTSU at home and Tennessee and Vanderbilt playing at Vandy.  Take the chilly weather gear.

Holiday Lights at Cheekwood is back again for the second year with over a million twinkling lights across the property. This beautiful display opened tonight and the last day will be Sunday, January 1st. This holiday series will be open every night from 5pm til 10pm except Mondays. There will also be live reindeer, s’mores pits, holiday carolers, family photos, and cash bars with wine, beer, and hot chocolate along the trail. The Mansion will be decorated as always.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I’ll have the weather update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
