Hot Today, Cool Tomorrow

It happened again…another record high…83 degrees exceeds the old record of 82 from 2012. As you know we set records yesterday and Tuesday.  Tuesday’s high of 88 was an all time record for the month of November.paul-heat-wave

Initially, it looked like we would avoid record setting temperatures today, but the front slowed down and allowed enough sunshine to filter through to warm things up.  The front is moving through now, this will bring some cooler air for the weekend.  There is the possibility of some showers but they won’t amount to much more than a trace at best. Most people won’t even see any of this rain.

This system is disappointing considering the drought, but it’s not a surprise. The moderate drought status has now spread across the rest of Middle Tennessee.  Severe and Extreme Drought conditions continue across the southeast. In Nashville there is a deficit of 5.16″ for the year.

Over the weekend the afternoons will be pleasant, but the mornings will be quite chilly.  Lows in Nashville will be in the low 40s, mid 30s will be likely in some areas to the east, this will likely mean some areas of frost.

The cooler airmass will stay in place through the beginning of next week with just a slight warm up.  There is a chance of rain next week, but it doesn’t look very promising.

I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10pm.
