See Ya 90s! Hello 70s!

Like a house guest who has overstayed their welcome, tomorrow, we say BON VOYAGE to the extreme heat of 2016!  In all likelihood, today will be our last day in the 90s this calendar year.  We’ll still have days with highs in the 80s, but 90s?  It’s very likely they won’t return until the middle of next spring.  I hear applause erupting all across Middle Tennessee!!

Outdoors now (9:20am) all areas are covered in sunshine!

Temperatures continue to climb, after bottoming out in the low-mid 60s:

This afternoon, weather for the Titans/Raiders game looks HOT!  We’ll have a kickoff temperature in the upper 80s and a late-game temperature in the lower 90s.  No rain.  Just heat!

Meanwhile, we’ll  be watching a sharp cold front to the west, rolling through Missouri and Oklahoma. With it, showers will spread eastward.  This weather system will affect our weather tomorrow.

As you wake up tomorrow morning, expect clouds to be increasing.  There even could be a few showers over our westernmost counties.  Additional showers will spread eastward throughout the day.  It’ll be notably cooler tomorrow, too.  The humidity will drop gradually during the afternoon and evening.

Tuesday morning is when you’ll feel the full effect of this weather change.  Look at temperatures over the northern Plains this morning:

While we won’t have 30s, I do expect widespread 50s.  Some of our coolest locations should bottom out in the 40s several mornings this week, too.

The rest of this week looks pleasant and fall-like with lows in the 40s & 50s and highs in the 70s.  However, we are monitoring the possibility of having to add a slight shower chance, especially over eastern Middle Tennessee for Thursday and Friday.  Coming up today on Channel 4 News at 5pm, we’ll have an update on that.
