Weekend Weather and Events

TGIF! The weekend has arrived. It’s a weekend that brings some rain and heat relief.  The past few days we have had a few showers and thunderstorms that were triggered by heat and humidity, but this weekend, a front will give us a good chance of rain and thunderstorms.  It won’t be a weekend washout, but I don’t want you to be caught off guard by some rain and thunderstorms.

Some showers move in to the west tomorrow morning, then slowly spread eastward. The most likely area for rain during the day will be west of I-65.  Late afternoon and into the evening the rain will head west of I-65.  Temperatures will be held down with the clouds and rain.

The front will actually come through on Sunday.  There will be some rain early on Sunday then it should clear somewhat during the afternoon from west to east. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s and the humidity will be lower. The lower humidity is the best part.

Monday there may be a few lingering showers, but for the most part next week will be dry and it will start to heat back up again to near 90.  The average high for this time of year is 82.

This is a very busy weekend for outdoor festivals and events.  Here’s just a sampling of some of the things going on.

First off the Harvest Moon is out tonight…no admission to see it.  The Harvest Moon is simply the full moon closest the fall equinox.

The Hendersonville Half Marathon is early tomorrow morning along the streets of Indian Lake.  It’ a benefit for a local park designed for children with disabilities.

It’s the last day of the Tennessee State Fair will a full day of fun, including the 4-H Funnel Cake 5K.  I was a 4-Her so I am a big supporter of anything they do.

The Mutt Strutt and Dog Day Festival is at Centennial Park. It benefits Nashville Humane.  Paul Heggen and Dagny will be there. The run/walk starts at 9am.

There is fun for the whole family in Gladeville with the annual Gladefest.  It starts at 9am and goes until 3pm.

The Old Timers Festival is happening tomorrow in LaVergne.  It features a parade and a carnival.

Speaking of parades, Snowbird will be at the Lincoln County Fair from 5pm-7pm.  He will be in the parade.

Just keep in mind rain is possible for these events.  Not a bad idea to download the WSMV WX app so you can take the 4WARN Live Radar with you wherever you are.

I’ll have an update on Channel 4 News at 10 PM.
