A gorgeous but very hot finish to the workweek! Temperatures are still sizzling as I type here at 2:49 PM…
Upper 80s to lower 90s are moving and grooving around town. Spotty storms are currently spilling in, mainly north of I-40 with some heavier pockets east of I-65.
I expect showers and storms to diminish into more of an isolated event going into tonight. If you’re looking for some fun family plans, there is plenty to do! Humphreys County Fair in Waverly is one and that is where Snowbird will be hanging out tonight from 5 PM to 7 PM. It will be warm and humid. Waverly is currently getting a passing thundershower but that one will fizzle out by open.
Touchdown Friday is also tonight! 83 degrees and muggy conditions is what you can expect right around kickoff which is at 7 pm.
Here’s where the weather story takes a little U-turn. A cold front currently over Central Kansas will shift into Middle Tennessee, bringing plenty of moisture with it.
Any early morning plans are in the clear on Saturday. Let’s check in with Futurecast for arrival time…
Northwestern Middle TN will see the initial batch by late morning. So, those heading to Neyland stadium in Knoxville to watch the Volunteers take on the Ohio Bobcats…in the clear (perfect timing). Kickoff is at 11:00 AM and it will be warm, in the lower 80s but dry.
Areas west of I-65 will hog the moisture during the day and early evening before the showers and storms shift east of I-65 into the overnight and early part of Sunday…
This is GREAT news for some temporary relief from the heat. Upper 80s on Saturday will dip down to seasonable lower 80s by Sunday. It will be a muggy weekend hang tight — humidity will be noticeably drier by Monday! Highs will creep back into the upper 80s by Monday as well.
With storms on the way, now is the perfect time to download our FREE app. You can track the rain on the radar while on the go. If any watches or warnings do pop up, you’ll be the first to know!
I’ll have the full weekend storm breakdown coming up on channel 4 at 4.
