Refreshing Sunshine Follows the Storm

What a mess! Numerous severe thunderstorms hammered Middle Tennessee with heavy downpours, loud thunder and damaging winds yesterday. Reports came streaming in of downed trees blocking roads, trees falling on power lines and one even came crashing down on a car. Loyal channel 4 viewer Patti snapped and shared this picture with me as the storm rolled through Franklin. Looks scary.

Quite a different picture this morning. Radiant sunshine is already moving and grooving around town, setting the trend for the remainder of the day.

Crisp and refreshing air has worked its way in behind the cold front that brought the storm yesterday. High pressure now takes a firm grip of Middle Tennessee and we’ll welcome it with open arms.

Here’s what you can expect:

  1. decreasing clouds this morning
  2. cooler daytime highs in the lower 80s and
  3. low humidity

Check, check, check. It will be a fantastic day for any outdoor festivities. Maybe a pool day?

Looking very good. Delightful sunshine and low humidity sticks around on Monday

but temperatures will take a turn, dialing back up into the upper 80-degree range. Muggy conditions return by Tuesday. A slight chance (20%) for a few spotty afternoon storms also returns by Tuesday, lasting into Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The best chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms will arrive with an approaching system on Saturday.

Meteorologist Dan Thomas will have updates on channel 4 at 5 and 10 (maybe a little delayed due to football) tonight.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
