Today 93 degrees was the high…that’s the 4th day in a row of temperatures in the mid 90s. Tomorrow will be another hot one before a front gives Middle Tennessee a little relief. The approaching upper level trough will enhance the chance for a few showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. The most likely place for showers will be in the northwest corner of the mid state and along the Highland Rim…expect to see more clouds too, especially the farther north you are. Here’s what the Futurecast RPM model is showing for the rain placement tomorrow…not much.
Saturday the surface front starts to sneak in, that will bring the best chance of rain and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. This won’t be a big rain, about .25 to .50″ is likely. It has been over 10 days since it rained in Nashville, so rain is needed. The extreme southeast corner of Middle Tennessee still needs some rain according to the drought monitor that came out today.
Here’s a look at the latest timing on the front Saturday with the Futurecast RPM model. Any thunderstorms that develop are not expected to be severe.
Sunday is the “prize” day as the cooler and less humid air mass moves in. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s, close to average this time of year. Love that morning low Monday in the 50s. After Monday the humidity does start to return. So the break from heat and humidity won’t last long, but it will be nice while it last.
While we are waiting on the front to move you can spend some time looking up. Again tonight the Moon, Mars and Saturn are bright in the sky. Look toward the southwest. You don’t need a telescope.
