No matter how you say it…hot, sizzling, scorching, ugh…it was hot. The high reached 94 degrees again today. It will be near 94 again tomorrow and in the low 90s Friday. Very little rain is expected tomorrow, some isolated thunderstorms are expected on Friday.
Some relief is still on the way for this weekend. A front will move through providing some much needed rain on Saturday. It won’t be a wash out, but it’s been 11 days since any rain fell in Nashville. The southeast corner of Middle Tennessee is still suffering from drought conditions…so they need rain too. A new drought monitor comes out tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if it’s changed with this streak of dry days.
The best part of this forecast I think most folks will agree is the cooler air that will move in behind the front. We could even see some morning lows in the 50s. Afternoon highs will step back to the low to mid 80s. Plus the humidity will be low…that sounds divine.
The limited cloud cover today will lend itself to a nice night for star gazing. The waxing crescent moon is glowing. By the way, if you have forgotten from science class, the waxing crescent is the first Phase after the New Moon. During this phase the Moon can be seen in the western sky after the sun dips below the horizon.
Along with the moon, you will be able to view Saturn, Mars and the star Antares. Just look toward the southwest sky. You will be able to see this trio and the moon for the next few nights.
I’ll be doing a “facebook live” within the hour to look at the planets together. Join me at 10 PM tonight on Channel 4 News for an update.
