September 6: Hot, Hot, Hot

No need to get wordy with the forecast for the next several days — hot and mostly dry weather will prevail today through the rest of the work week. High temperatures today and tomorrow will reach the low 90s…

Today’s and tomorrow’s rain chances are very low — in fact, it’s a stretch to even call it a 10% chance.  But just to be on the safe side, that’s what I’m leaving in the forecast.  The HRRR model’s radar simulation today shows a couple of blips, but I’m not very concerned:

The humidity will creep up by Thursday and Friday, leading to a very slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms. The best chance of rain in the forecast arrives Saturday — we’re likely to hear some rumbles of thunder with that, but at this point severe weather doesn’t look like a significant threat.  The analog forecast map (comparing similar historical weather patterns to this weekend’s pattern) shows the best chance of severe storms remaining off to our north:

The cold front that sparks those storms will usher in slightly cooler and MUCH drier air for Sunday and Monday.  The weather looks great for the Titans’ season opener at noon on Sunday!
