Unofficial End to Summer…or So They Say!

Many people used this weekend to get one last tubing tour around the lake or one last dip in the pool.

The weather for either today was perfect:

This Labor Day marked the unofficial end of summer….or so they say.  When you see what’s coming, you might think Mother Nature didn’t get the word!

Here’s the weather set-up moving forward into this week.  A sprawling ridge of high pressure will build over the multi-state corridor from Texas to Tennessee.  That means Middle Tennesseans will bake!!

Not only will WE bake….the ground will bake as well!  It’s been 10 days since we’ve received rain in Nashville.  Some of our communities have gone longer.  During that span, most of the days have featured highs in the 90s.  SO…the surface moisture is quickly disappearing.  I’m afraid our dry stretch will continue through much of this week, too.  While there will be many clean cars, there will also be many scorched lawns!

We do see SOME change, however, in both arenas this weekend.  We expect a bit of rain as well as some cooler, more refreshing conditions.

In the meantime, it’s back to work for many of you tomorrow….for the first time in several days.  It’s hard enough to get out the door on time on a Monday, let alone a Monday after a holiday weekend.  SO…you’ll be happy to know the only weather element that might get in your way (and only temporarily) is the bright, rising sun.

Coming up tonight on Channel 4 News at 10pm, we’ll delve deeper into the rising temperatures this week.  We’ll also focus more on the rain we expect this coming weekend…and the refreshing change that will follow.
