Another taste of fall is just around the corner. I say “another” because just over a week ago we had a stretch of days with several cool mornings in the 50s & 60s and pleasantly warm afternoons in the 80s. This next installment will begin to move in on Thursday.
In the meantime, expect one more very hot day tomorrow!
Today was so hot, it may actually end up being our hottest day for the remainder of 2016!
I’m not guaranteeing that’ll be the case…just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. Conceivably, we could come close to or hit 94 on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. If we don’t do it then though, we’ll have an even more difficult time doing it deeper into the month of September, as the sun’s rays get weaker.
With today’s scorching high in the middle 90s, we’ve upped our total of days this year in the 90s to 69. Look at how far above the average that is for a calendar year!
Our refreshing weather change late this week will be brought about by a cold front now passing through Upper Midwest. Tropical Depression #9 in the Gulf of Mexico will also play a part…
As Tropical Depression #9 passes over Florida on Thursday (likely as a tropical storm), it’ll help strengthen a northerly wind that will usher cooler and drier air into Middle Tennessee.
I expect you’ll begin to feel the change by late Thursday. SO…if you’ll be attending either the Vanderbilt or Tennessee football games, prepare for a very nice evening!
A little rain will pass through late tomorrow and early Thursday with the cold front I wrote about above. Coming up tonight on Channel 4 News at 10pm, Lisa Spencer will show you our latest thoughts on when and where rain is most likely, so you can plan accordingly.
